An idea as intangible and uncertain as tomorrow. The future holds wild and fantastic changes to how we live, what we consume, and how we interact, all mixed with mystery. This art gallery opening will explore the future via two brand new exhibits, drinks, bites, and entertainment. Immerse yourself in a vision of what the future could hold in both a real and fictional sense at the third and final event in The McNichols Project series.
ICE: Portraits of Vanishing Glaciers—Photographs by James Balog
In the spring of 2005, acclaimed environmental photographer James Balog headed to the Arctic on a tricky assignment for National Geographic: to capture images to help tell the story of the Earth’s changing climate. Even with a scientific upbringing, Balog had been a skeptic about climate change. Chasing Ice is the story of one man’s mission to change the tide of history by gathering undeniable evidence of our changing planet. His hauntingly beautiful videos compress years into seconds and capture ancient mountains of ice in motion as they disappear at a breathtaking rate.
Under The Mexican Sky
From the early 1930s through the early 1980s, the Mexican cinematographer Gabriel Figueroa (1907–1997) helped forge an evocative and enduring image of Mexico. Among the most important cinematographers of the Golden Age of Mexican Cinema, Figueroa worked with leading directors from Mexico, the United States and Europe, traversing a wide range of genres while maintaining his distinctive and vivid visual style.
